Surprising approximately no one, James Cameron’s much anticipated film Avatar ruled the box office on Friday with $27 million, setting it up to easily claim the top stop this weekend.

It was, however, a pretty underwhelming opening day compared to New Moon and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, which made $72 million and $62 million on their first days, respectively, earlier this year.

Avatar didn’t seem to have much competition, however. The Princess and the Frog came in at a distant second with $3.4 million andd The Blind Side took third place with $3.1 million.
